Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 16,2026 · Last Updated: June 16,2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Cygne LLC (“Cygne,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Cygne mobile application and website at cygne.skin (collectively, the “Service”).
By using Cygne, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. We also ask for your first name and birth year (month and day are optional) to personalize recommendations based on your skin’s life stage.
1.2 Skin Profile Information
To build your personalized ritual, we collect information you choose to provide about:
- Skin type, concerns, and goals
- Known ingredient sensitivities and allergies
- Prescription skincare products and dermatologist visit history
- Climate and general location (city-level, used to tailor seasonal advice)
1.3 Health-Adjacent Information
Cygne offers optional features that involve sensitive personal information, including:
- Menstrual cycle tracking, used to correlate skin changes with hormonal phases
- Skin journal entries, including notes on sleep, stress, and skin condition
- Weekly check-ins regarding irritation, breakouts, and dryness
This information is provided voluntarily and is used solely to power in-app features (such as Swan Sense and Monthly Recap). We do not sell this information. See Section 4 for more on how we handle this category of data.
1.4 Photos
If you choose to use the Reflection feature, you may capture photos of your skin over time. If you use product scanning, you may capture photos of product packaging or ingredient labels. These photos are stored securely and are only accessible to your account.
1.5 Product and Routine Data
We store information about the products you add to your Vanity, your skincare routine, and your progress introducing new active ingredients (“Introduce Slowly” data).
1.6 AI Chat Interactions (Ask Cygne)
If you use the Ask Cygne feature, your questions and the relevant context needed to answer them (such as your product list and recent check-ins) are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. See Section 3 for details.
1.7 Automatically Collected Information
We may collect limited technical information such as device type, app version, and general usage patterns to maintain and improve the Service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Build and update your personalized skincare ritual
- Generate AI-powered insights (Swan Sense daily insights, Monthly Recap, Ask Cygne responses)
- Detect potential ingredient conflicts and provide safety-related guidance
- Send you account-related communications
- Maintain, secure, and improve the Service
We do not use your information to serve third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share information only as described below:
3.1 Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers to operate Cygne:
- Supabase — provides authentication, database, and file storage infrastructure. Your account data, journal entries, check-ins, product information, and reflection photos are stored via Supabase.
- Anthropic — provides the AI models used to power Ask Cygne, Swan Sense, and Monthly Recap. When you use these features, relevant context (such as your product list, check-in history, or your question) is sent to Anthropic’s API to generate a response. Anthropic processes this data to return a response to you and does not use it to train their models when accessed via API. For more information, see Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
- Vercel — provides the hosting infrastructure for our application and serverless functions.
- Apple — if you download Cygne via the App Store, Apple’s own privacy practices apply to that transaction (see Apple’s privacy policy).
These providers are contractually limited to using your data only to provide services to Cygne.
3.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cygne, our users, or others.
3.3 Business Transfers
If Cygne is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
3.4 What We Don’t Do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your skin photos, journal entries, or cycle tracking data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Sensitive Health-Adjacent Data
We recognize that menstrual cycle data, skin journal entries, and medical history (such as prescriptions) are sensitive. While Cygne is a skincare tracking tool and not a healthcare provider, and the Service is not intended to provide medical advice, we apply the following additional protections to this category of data:
- This data is used only to generate in-app insights for your own benefit
- This data is not shared with advertisers, data brokers, or used for marketing purposes
- This data is not sold under any circumstances
- You may delete this data at any time by deleting individual entries or your entire account (see Section 8)
- Cycle tracking and medical history fields are optional — you are never required to enter this information to use core features of the app
If you reside in a jurisdiction with specific consumer health data protections (such as Washington State’s My Health My Data Act or similar laws), you may have additional rights regarding this category of data. Contact us using the information in Section 11 to exercise these rights.
5. Photos and Biometric Information
Cygne allows you to capture and store photos of your skin (through the Reflection feature) and photos of product packaging (through product scanning). We want to be clear about how these photos are handled:
What we do:
- Photos are stored securely in encrypted cloud storage (via Supabase) and are accessible only to your account
- Reflection photos are displayed back to you within the app so you can track changes in your skin over time
- Product photos may be processed to identify the product or read ingredient information
What we do NOT do:
- We do not use facial recognition technology
- We do not extract, generate, or store biometric identifiers or “faceprints” (such as scans of facial geometry)
- We do not use your photos to identify you or any other individual
- We do not use your photos to train AI models
- We do not share, sell, or disclose your photos to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties
Your skin photos are treated as part of your personal skincare record, not as a means of identification. You may delete any photo at any time, and all photos are permanently deleted when you delete your account (see Section 8).
If you reside in a jurisdiction with specific biometric privacy laws (such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, or the Washington biometric privacy law), please note that because Cygne does not collect or use biometric identifiers as defined under those laws, those specific provisions are not generally triggered by our use of photos. If you have questions about how your photos are handled, contact us using the information in Section 11.
6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Cygne uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized insights, recommendations, and responses (Ask Cygne, Swan Sense, Monthly Recap). These features:
- Are intended for general informational and educational purposes only
- Are not a substitute for professional medical or dermatological advice, diagnosis, or treatment
- May occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete information
Always consult a licensed dermatologist or healthcare provider regarding any skin condition, before starting new active ingredients, or if you experience an adverse reaction to a product.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal data, including check-ins, journal entries, product data, ramp logs, and reflection photos, within 30 days of your deletion request, except where retention is required by law.
8. Your Rights and Choices
8.1 Access and Correction
You can view and update most of your information directly within the app (Profile, Vanity, Progress tabs).
8.2 Account Deletion
You may permanently delete your account at any time from the Profile tab. This will delete your account, skin data, routine history, photos, and journal entries. This action cannot be undone.
8.3 Regional Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or similar laws, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and the right to opt out of certain processing. Contact us using the information in Section 11 to make such a request.
9. Children’s Privacy
Cygne is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. The AI chat feature (Ask Cygne) is restricted to users 17 and older. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will delete that information promptly.
10. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls (Row Level Security) to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your privacy rights, contact us at:
Email: hello@cygne.skin
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
